My professional experience

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent more than two decades working in education, leadership, coaching and professional development.

My experience includes:

  • MBACP Trauma Informed Counsellor

  • Coaching 1:1 and Group Coaching

  • Teaching and learning

  • Leadership and management

  • Professional development

  • Supporting people through change

  • Working with individuals and groups with neurodiversity

  • Designing and delivering structured learning programmes

I have also undertaken additional training in areas including Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Mental Health First Aid, Safeguarding and Complex Attachment.

I bring this wider experience into my work, while recognising that counselling is different from teaching or coaching.

Counselling isn't about giving you answers. It's about creating the space for you to explore your own.

About Jacky

I believe that being genuinely heard can make a significant difference.

My route into counselling followed more than 20 years working with people in education, leadership, coaching and professional development.

Throughout my career I have worked with people from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances. I have taught, coached, led teams, supported professional development and helped people navigate change and challenge.

Alongside this professional experience, I trained as a therapeutic counsellor.

My counselling approach is primarily person-centred. This means that I believe you are the expert in your own life and that our work should begin with understanding your experiences from your perspective.

I also draw on psychodynamic thinking where it can help us consider how past experiences, relationships and patterns may influence how we feel and behave in the present.

My role isn't to tell you what to do.

My role is to listen, to help you explore what is happening and to support you in developing your own understanding.

I aim to create a relationship where you can speak honestly, without judgement, and feel accepted for who you are.
