Couples Work
When you love each other, but something isn't working
Relationships can become difficult even when two people still care deeply about each other.
Perhaps you keep having the same arguments without ever really resolving them. You may feel that your partner doesn't understand you, that you're no longer communicating in the way you once did, or that you've gradually become disconnected from one another.
You might be struggling with trust, intimacy, resentment, changes in your relationship or simply wondering how you reached this point.
Sometimes one person feels unheard. Sometimes both do.
And sometimes couples know they don't want things to continue as they are, but aren't sure how to change them.
Imagine your relationship feeling different
Imagine being able to have a difficult conversation without it automatically becoming an argument.
Imagine feeling heard rather than dismissed, being able to understand what your partner is really trying to say, and beginning to recognise the patterns that keep pulling you back into the same conflicts.
Couples counselling provides a space to slow those conversations down.
It gives each of you an opportunity to speak openly, listen differently and begin to understand not only what is happening between you, but what may be underneath it
How I can help
My role isn't to decide who is right or wrong or to take sides
I provide a balanced and respectful space where both of you can be heard
Together, we can explore how you communicate, identify patterns that may have developed within your relationship and understand the feelings and needs that may sit beneath conflict or distance.
The aim isn't to create a “perfect” relationship. It's to help you understand each other more clearly and consider what you both need from the relationship going forward.
Couples counselling may help you to:
Improve communication and understand each other's differences
Explore recurring arguments, conflict and resentment
Rebuild trust following affairs or infidelity
Navigate difficulties with intimacy, sex and changes over time
Understand each other's emotional needs and expectations
Reconnect, strengthen your relationship or explore your future together
My Training in Couples Counselling
I am currently undertaking a specialist Certificate in Working with Couples with Juliet Grayson. This training focuses on communication, relationship needs, conflict, affairs, sexual intimacy and the changes couples may experience over time.
Alongside my person-centred counselling approach, this helps me offer a thoughtful, balanced and supportive space for couples to explore their relationship.
Moving forward
Every relationship is different, and there isn't one formula for making a relationship work.
For some couples, moving forward means reconnecting and strengthening their relationship. For others, counselling may help them understand difficult decisions or consider what the future of their relationship might look like.
The important thing is having a space where you can begin talking differently.
You don't have to know how to fix things before you come. That's something we can begin exploring together.

Couples work can provide a space where both people can be heard.
